Omar Abou-Samra joined the Global Disaster Preparedness Center (GDPC) in May 2012 where he has lead innovative programs and important partnerships with the Wells Fargo, the Walt Disney Company and the National Building Museum. Omar leads a technical team focused on supporting scalable disaster preparedness solutions globally. Today his projects and tools are in nearly 100 countries. Previously, as a leader in the American Red Cross Disaster Operations Department, Omar worked closely with Red Cross chapters, volunteers and staff to implement key programs and initiatives related to disaster service delivery in addition to the responsibilities of leading disaster response on large relief operations including the Superstorm Sandy response. Omar has a BA from Emory University and a JD from Santa Clara University School of Law.
