Martin Szakal joined ABP in 2004 as General Manager for the Finn Terminal based in Hull. He moved to ABP Immingham 2 years later, first to assume the role as General Manager for the Container Terminal, then in 2008 to became Head of Operations for the Ports of Grimsby and Immingham. This included the Container Terminal, In-Dock Operations and Upper and Lower Tier COMAH Bulk Terminals facilities. Prior to joining ABP Martin spent all his working career in the Ports Industry at a number of Port Authorities and Terminal Operations around the UK both in the private and public sector.
Martin became responsible for all aspects of Resilience and Continuity Planning for ABP in 2014, initially for the four Humber Ports and more recently for all 21 UK Ports and London Head Office. He is also responsible for Security arrangements at the Ports of Grimsby and Immingham and has recently been appointed Board Member to the newly formed ABP Sec Ltd, created to incorporate ABP's responsibility under the Port Security Authority Regulations and for other non-Statutory security matters.
