Lesley Grimes FBCI

Lesley is a Business Continuity Professional with over 12 years’ experience in establishing, embedding and maintaining Business Continuity across Utilities, Logistics and Manufacturing sectors across the UK, Europe and the US. 

Until semi-retirement, Lesley held the prestigious post of Head of Resilience at the Atomic Weapons Establishment and has delivered a range of Business Continuity Management projects and solutions in a large, unique and complex organisation which brings exceptional challenges.  Previously she had held Business continuity management positions within Centrica PLC group of companies including British Gas and the Automobile Association.

Lesley has served as a BCI Membership Committee Member and BCI assessor since 2006 

She is currently the Chief Examiner for the BCI certified exam and as such supports the BCI board in its strategic intentions. She also held the position of Chair for the Berkshire Business Continuity Forum in the UK between 2007 and 2010.

Lesley’s career has been recognised over a number of years by the BCI as in her early years she was awarded “New Comer of Year” for her innovative approach to BC awareness and was also awarded the BCI Achievement award, the highest commendation given by the BCI, for her contribution to industry for her role as BCI Chief Examiner in 2011.

AWE Business Resilience Team led by Lesley was awarded the Business Continuity Team of the year in 2012 at the BCM World Conference.  The team was praised for implementing a cross-organizational resilience programme that includes threat planning; horizon scanning; as well as an incident response. Coming from different areas of the business, the team was recognised as true leaders by their peers within their sector.

Lesley represented Business Continuity standards globally and has been a key contributor to the Business Continuity Institute Executive forum in Brussels and Amsterdam.

Lesley is a regular speaker at conferences and particularly enjoys sharing the practical lessons learned from having established a BCM programme across a large and unique organization and in particular mentoring many other organisations on how to create more challenging exercises.

Now semi retired Lesley splits her private time between the UK and Sardinia as she has a passion for anything Italian! She is a keen advanced Nitrox Scuba diver specialising in World War 2 warships and has a keen interest in Marine conservation as she keeps and breads Seahorses.
