James McAlister FBCI
James McAlister is the Director of Crisis Prepared limited, an orgainisational resilience consultancy. He is a former police officer with over 30 years experience in Business Continuity, Civil Protection, Emergency Management, Security, Firearms, Public Order and Training. He has advised and contributed to many operations and exercises throughout the UK and internationally including political party conferences, major sporting events, VIP visits, counter terrorism operations, public order events and environmental / man-made emergencies.
Whilst seconded to the National Centre for Policing Excellence he wrote the Police National Mobilisation Plan and developed / delivered an Integrated Emergency Management Course, for the United Arab Emirates Police.
In 2005, James was chosen by the Cabinet Office to become a member of the European Union Civil Protection Team; was the first UK member to be deployed on an international mission - China Earthquake 2008 and was the Deputy Team Leader for the Super Typhoon Haiyan Mission - Philippines 2013.
He is a training consultant for a number of European governmental agencies including the Danish Emergency Management Agency and Bundesanstalt Technisches Hilfswerk.
James Chairs the Business Continuity Institute's Global Membership Council and the North West Region Forum.
He is a Business Continuity ISO 22301 Lead Auditor and a Committee Member for the British Standards Institute’s Societal Security Resilience Group.
He is a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute, Institute for Civil Protection & Emergency Management and the Institute for Learning.
James has won a number of prestigious awards including the CIR Magazine ‘Public Sector Continuity Manager of the Year Award’ on two occasions, 2009 & 2011 and the BCI ‘European Public Sector Business Continuity Manager of the Year 2014’.
