Dr Samantha Brooks
Dr Samantha Brooks has worked as a research psychologist at King’s College London (KCL) since 2009. She began her career with interests in occupational psychology and mental health at work, and joined KCL’s Health Protection Research Unit in 2014 to lead a study on the impact of disasters on distress and psychological health disorders.
Her current research explores the effects of disasters on the psychological wellbeing of individuals in specific occupational groups (trauma-affected public sector organisations, primary care practitioners and emergency responders), and how to protect psychological wellbeing during and after major incidents. The overall aim of this research is to develop, test and evaluate interventions to reduce the psychological impact of major incidents.Dr Brooks holds a BSc in Psychology and a PhD in Social Psychology.
