Independent Business Continuity Consultant
Des O’Callaghan FBCI is an independent Business Continuity Management consultant in the Toronto area who retired in 2010 after devoting the previous 21 years to building and leading several corporate BCM programs in the financial sector. Aside from occasional consulting, he is also an educator in business continuity, having developed and delivered a suite of courses for George Brown College in Toronto from 2006 to 2010 and is also an approved Instructor for the BCI. He has been a long-time member and executive of the Disaster Recovery Information Exchange Toronto Chapter, writing for and editing its quarterly newsletter. He is a member of the Education and Program Committee for the World Conference on Disaster Management held annually in Toronto. He is currently a member of the BCI Canada Chapter Board, as Director of Communications and represents Canada on the Global Membership Council. He became Canada’s first FBCI in 1996. He was recognized for his many contributions to the profession as the 2009 recipient of the National Award of Excellence for Business Continuity presented by the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness.
