David Tickner FBCI

David Tickner FBCI is a highly experienced BC Manager, Consultant and Strategist. He has effectively delivered business continuity consulting and management for nearly 20 years. Prior to that he had many years experience in Professional Services, Business Consulting, Practice and Project Management.

A long-standing member of the Business Continuity Institute, he was elevated to a Fellow of the Institute [FBCI] in July 2014. He is a committee member of the Victoria/Tasmania Forum of BCI Australasia and has contributed to a number of BCI Australasia events and awards presentations. He has a strong belief that the successful future of the BCI depends on the encouragement and activities of its younger and newer members.

Since 1997, he has focussed specifically on continuity management and strategic advice to high profile organisations in the public and private sector, most notably the pandemic planning for the Victorian Department of Human Services – a three year exercise that culminated in his inclusion in the State Emergency Response Team during the initial stages of the swine ‘flu outbreak. In recent years his work has focussed on health, community and not-for-profit organisations.

All of these roles had specific end-user and customer focus, as the greater the interaction and engagement with client staff and stakeholders, the greater the ongoing benefits to the client. He is regularly re-engaged by many organisations up to two or three times.

A specific goal of every client assignment is to pass his knowledge and experience to selected client personnel, thus establishing a high degree of ongoing self-sufficiency for the client.

David has previously been a speaker at two previous BCI world conferences, as well as at major BC and DR conferences in Australia and Canada. His 2011 paper to the 2011 BCI Conference was short-listed for the BCP Paper of the Year.
