David originally started work in the public sector in 1973 two years later moving to a role in the private water utility sector which grew into a multi-national organisation which was also a Civil Contingencies UK custodian of “Critical National Infrastructure (CNI). Achieving the position of Corporate Business Continuity Manager within the largest water utilities provider in the UK and a FTSE 100 company.
Prior to this role, David worked in logistics functions and migrated to Procurement functions after becoming chartered with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (MCIPS) and became the company’s procurement consultant in Lagos, Nigeria and later Head of Procurement in Eastern Europe, operating in Bulgaria, Estonia and Poland.
On his return to the UK, he changed disciplines undertaking the role of Project Manager for an Executive level Strategic Response exercise which later lead to him becoming the Corporate Business Continuity Manager after studying with the BCI and achieving CBCI and MBCI. He now holds AFBCI status and tutors the Good Practice Guidelines 2013 course as an approved BCI tutor worldwide in such locations as America, Africa and Asia and the UK. He has also authored a British Computer Society, (Chartered Institute of IT) Business Continuity Practitioner course and a Risk and Supply Chain Continuity Management course. He has presented on supply chain continuity for the BCI on two occasions at the BCI China Conference and various UK BCI and BSi events.David was the UK Principal Expert for the ISO 292 Technical Committee, in Morioka, Japan in 2015 that has finalised the ISO 22318 technical specification. Most recently David won the BCI European Personality of the year award 2015 and has posted blogs during Business Continuity awareness Week (BCAW) and articles for the BCI’s CONTINUITY Magazine on the link between Business Continuity and Supply Chain Management. He has also delivered webinars during Education month for the BCI.
